Blog #11 - Reflection on the Semester
1. Kohn Classroom Chart
One of the things I will keep in mind and always remember is the Kohn Classroom Chart. I think the chart is a simple perspective to look at how a classroom is being run and set up. I enjoyed breaking down our own classrooms in our placement because it shows how each one of my classmates have a different perspective and opinion on their own classrooms. In the future, I will keep this chart in mind when I become a teacher.
2. Troublemakers by Shalaby
Another thing I will remember and something that stood out to me this semester is the Troublemakers article we read one week. I really like this article because it shows a different way to think of "troublemakers." It is meaningful because it shifted my idea of what a troublemaker is in the classroom setting and made me question okay maybe there is a reason for this behavior and usually there is.
3. Trick Card Game
This silly card game I will for sure always remember because it was so frustrating not 100% knowing how to play the game or what to do. However, my first group quickly caught on to the game and later when we switched groups I caught on to the "point" of the game and thought it was a clever way to learn a lesson. It basically showed me that certain powers trump over other powers and people sometimes have to stay silent and follow those rules which is something that will stick with me for a while.
Hi Emma, I also did Troublemakers by Shalaby for this blog post 11. Students should be able to feel comfortable and safe from judgement in their classroom. As future teachers, we don't want our students to feel like their school is a prison. Schools are changing their polies and making new rules to change the student's identity and beliefs.
ReplyDeleteI love the ones you choose! I also talked about Troublemakers by Shalaby in my post. I agree that using Kohns chart was interesting in breaking down a classroom.
